Monday to Wednesday 3rd – 5th February 2020
You are invited to attend the ‘All Wales Baptist Ministers’ conference’ for a time of refreshing with fellow ministers. Enjoy some time away to reflect, pray, be inspired, walk on the beach or catch up with old and new friends. This year we are pleased to invite all ministers and their spouses, including youth and children’s pastors and lay pastors.
Whilst there will not be a staffed creche, pre-school children are welcome to attend, and parents can contact the SWBA office for further details and prices.
We are very much looking forward to meeting together. Please book now and secure your space, as this is a very popular event.
Guest Speaker: Cameron Roxburgh
We are pleased to have as our speaker in 2020 Cameron Roxburgh from the Forge Missional movement. Cam Roxburgh is the National Director for Forge Canada as well as the Team Leader of Southside Community Church in Vancouver, BC. He has a passion for helping the church to join Jesus on mission in local contexts. Cam has taught at Regent College, Tyndale Seminary in Toronto, and served as the Director of Missional Centre at Carey Theological from 2004-2006. He has contributed chapters to Discipling our Nation: Equipping the Canadian Church for Its Mission
(Church Leadership Library, 2005) and Green Shoots Out of Dry Ground: Growing a New Future for the Church in Canada (Wipf & Stock, 2013). He is the husband of one wife (Shelley) and the father of four kids. They live I in British Columbia, Canada. http://www.southside.ca/
“Cam Roxburgh has developed a vibrant, forward focused network of church leaders across Canada and parts of the United States. His capacity to connect and train missional thinkers, practitioners, scholars, and activists has positioned Cam to be a uniquely influential voice for transformation and change in the Canadian church today. His skills as a leader and visionary are outstanding; his humility and attentiveness to the work of God in our country is a welcomed gift.”
The Forge mission training network began in Victoria, Australia in 1996, launched by Alan and Deb Hirsch with Michael Frost as a response to the dire need for Christians to go into the World, amidst the many cultural changes, and actively engage others with the message of Jesus.
Forge initially moved beyond its Australian borders through a partnership with a missional training network in Canada led by Cam Roxburgh. It has now seen expansion into the United States, Russia, Scotland and most recently England and Wales. There is now an emerging network developing in Europe aiming to develop a new way of mission and being the church.
The Church in the Western context is in crisis. The statistics are alarming: in the last fifty years the church has experienced a position of trending decline across the Western world. There is a great need to develop a new way of mission and being the church.
This is what Forge exists to do. We focus our energy on developing leadership that can understand the missional challenge and proactively develop strategies, approaches, and teams to be able to take the church onto new and uncharted ground.
Through a series of conversations with Cam Roxburgh (Forge Canada) the Baptist Union of Wales is seeking to encourage the Baptist family in Wales to embark on a missional journey with a training program for churches and leaders starting in 2020
“I have known Cam Roxburgh and have worked with him in numerous contexts for over twelve years now. These contexts have included various conferences, training events, consultancies (both local and international) and of course in his local church work. He is a deeply committed and articulate practitioner of missional forms of church and Christianity. I heartily recommend him to any organization looking to deepen their missional engagement and impact on their context.”
Alan Hirsch – Author of Forgotten Ways, Founder of Forge MTN
“Cam Roxburgh is an experienced consultant and strategist who understands the challenges facing the church today and has a rich, wide, beautiful understanding of the kingdom of God. Cam’s leadership of Forge Canada shows his powerful contribution to any church or organisation struggling to rediscover the mission of Christ and how it can unfold in local neighbourhoods.”
Michael Frost – Author, Speaker, Seminary Professor
